This Year's Dance Special

We're proud to present the Shognosh Family 2nd Annual "Sugar Bear Showdown" in memory of Sugar Bear Shognosh.

A spectacular fancy dancer with a unique style of spins, footwork and his sunglasses. He traveled to many powwows across Indian country. Sugar Bear was integral in bringing Powwow to the Great Lakes region in the 1970's and to Walpole Island with "Sugar Bear's Powwow". Later on in life Sugar Bear continued to travel to many Native communities to work with the people and share his knowledge of traditional practices and way of life. He carried himself with dignity, integrity and pride that brought many people together. His love for powwow, his people and his family was second to none.
